Data, definitions & reading the numbers
Track specifications, circuit outlines and supplementary fastest laps: F1DB, CC BY 4.0. Data transformed and grouped for this atlas; outlines embedded from its white SVG assets. Results and championship standings: Jolpica F1 / Ergast-compatible API. Historical reference: 1950 official race results; 1988 official championship standings. Reference archive: Formula 1 official results. Results snapshot: 4 November 2026. The latest embedded race is 1 November 2026. This is a dated snapshot, not a live feed. Circuit profiles show specifications for the latest documented layout within the selected period. Different configurations are separately selectable; historical venue totals may span several layouts.
GP wins and podiums exclude sprints. Shared victories credit each winning driver; constructor results count each car once. Drivers receive at most one win, podium, fastest-lap credit and entry per event. Shared drivers are listed together in podium places. Indianapolis 500 rounds are included from 1950–1960 because they counted towards the championship; these were run to different technical rules. Constructor championships were first awarded in 1958. Earlier constructor championship values are unavailable, not zero. GP points and sprint points are the awarded points in each classification, including any fastest-lap bonus applicable that year. Championship points use the source’s season standings and can differ from session sums because of discarded-score rules, team penalties or championship adjustments. Earlier seasons sometimes counted only a limited number of results towards the championship. The progression chart shows session-point sums, not a reconstruction of every historical championship ruling.
Grid P1 means the first starting-grid position in the race result, not necessarily the official pole statistic (especially at early sprint weekends). The 1951 French GP shared car number is corrected from 24 to 4 using F1DB to reconcile Fangio’s fastest lap; awarded points and positions are retained. Early fastest-lap gaps are supplemented from F1DB using the same season, date, round and car number. Circuit metadata for Turkey 2021 and Las Vegas 2024 is explicitly matched by round and venue because of source-date differences; race-result dates are retained. Races without a recorded fastest lap remain missing, not inferred. Fastest laps count the race result’s rank-1 lap, regardless of bonus-point eligibility. Non-finish status means the result is neither “Finished” nor “+N Lap(s)”; it includes retirements, disqualifications, non-starts and non-qualifications. A missing or zero grid value is shown as a dash; historical entries can include drivers who did not qualify or start. Grid gains compare classified position to grid, excluding grid 0 (pit lane, non-starter or unavailable). They are not an overtake count. A finishing position can be classified even after retirement.
Cross-season points are affected by changing calendars and scoring rules; wins per GP provide a more comparable rate. Constructor identities stay as reported by the source: rebrands and successor entries are not merged, and Racing Point / Force India are separate. 2026 figures are partial and leaders are not labelled champions. Statistical lens rates use GP entries including non-starts and non-qualifications; constructor win rate uses race weekends, while podium and finish-status rates use car entries. Minimum-entry filtering reduces misleading small samples. Equal raw metric values share a competition rank. Team identifiers use recognisable racing colours; garage themes add secondary livery colours. Hex values are screen approximations, not certified paint codes. Historical constructor colours are representative and do not reproduce every seasonal or special livery. Livery references: McLaren, Audi, Cadillac. Era groupings are an interpretive navigation lens, not official FIA era definitions. Technical references: F1 regulation history, driver aids and safety, 2026 regulations.
